Susan East Nelson is a cum laude graduate of Southern University Law Center (SULC). She is admitted to practice in both Massachusetts and Louisiana and is also a Louisiana Notary Public. While in law school, Ms. Nelson excelled in contract law and public interest law. She was a student of the Elder Law Clinic where she handled complex legal problems for low-income seniors. Ms. Nelson also serves as an adjunct professor at SULC.

Prior to attending law school, Ms. Nelson served in a variety of public policy positions and has volunteered for a number of public causes. She is a member of the Rotary Club of Baton Rouge, a graduate of Leadership Baton Rouge, and a member of St. Alban's Chapel and Episcopal Center at LSU.

Ms. Nelson is married to Danny Nelson and the two reside in Baton Rouge.
